Covergirl x Katy Perry “Katy Kat Matte” Lipsticks!

Hi Everyone!

I hope you all had a great and relaxing 4th of July weekend! Today, I wanted to discuss the newest lipsticks to hit the drugstore – Covergirl’s collaboration with Katy Perry “Katy Kat Matte”. After searching high and low at several pharmacy’s both by my house and by my job I was able to get two colors to test and play with for you guys. I purchased shades “Sphynx” & “Catoure” (they have the cutest names by the way). The formula of these lipsticks are very smooth and velvety. They also don’t tug on your lips when applying. The colors are pigmented once layered more than once. I find only one layer doesn’t suffice for these lippies. I also feel like although I do like the formula, these lipsticks are not really matte. If you compare the matte lipsticks by let’s say Maybelline or Milani with these by Covergirl, the competition beats them to a pulp. The Maybelline and Milani lipsticks are definitely way more matte and pigmented than these. With that said, I don’t think they should have marketed these lipsticks as matte if they do have some shine and moisture to them. I do however like the great color selection and adorable packaging from this collab. The matte soft exterior is reminiscent of NARS packaging, but instead of all black, this lipstick line has all white lids with black lettering and a clear bottom edge where you can see a swatch of the lipstick color (same as Milani lipsticks). Did I like these lipsticks? Yes, they are nice, but are they worth running out of the house in search of them? Not really. If you’re a makeup collector, then these will be a must-have for you, if not, I say skip this collab altogether!
