Tarte Rain Forest Of The Sea: Skin Twinkle Lighting Palette & Water Foundation!

Hi Darlings!

I am really pumped to discuss the two products I purchased from Tarte’s new “Rain Forest of the Sea” Collection! When I first saw YouTube beauty guru’s discussing this collection, my eyes immediately gravitated towards the “Skin Twinkle” highlighting palette (because I LOVE to shine bright like a diamond) & their “Water Foundation”. First, let’s talk about the highlighting palette which honestly is to die for! The packaging is absolutely stunning hunty! Very sleek with the shiny gold backing and interior (in true Tarte fashion) and the blue/turquoise top front portion which gives you that ocean feel. Inside you have a huge mirror which is pretty standard with the majority of Tarte palettes and on the opposite you have 2 large highlighting powders – color names: “Sunlight” & “Moonlight” (perfect for strobing) with 1 middle shade  – color name: ‘Filtered Light” that is smaller and more on the matte sand colored side of things. “Filtered Light” reminds me of an Hourglass “Ambient Lighting” powder in both the silky finish and effect, it actually could be used to set your concealer and brighten the under eye nicely. Honestly speaking though, out of the 3 shades, this one just doesn’t appeal to me. I am more focused in using the 2 highlighting powders. “Sunlight” & “Moonlight” are beautiful shades to highlight all the key areas of your face (cheekbones, center of the nose & right below the eyebrows). “Sunlight” is more of a gold champagne color while “Moonlight” is more of a rosy pearl tone. You can achieve a true soft focus natural glow with these shades even though they are super pigmented so just be careful not to go too overboard lol. These powders are finely milled and just glide onto the skin leaving you simply luminous. Make sure not to dip your brush too hard into these powders if you don’t want to create a mess! I’m just mad my swatches below don’t do the colors justice, much better payoff in person, TRUST ME!

Now as for the “Water Foundation”, it is by far one of my new favorite foundations this year! I love the fact that it comes with a dropper! This is very sanitary and avoids you picking up too much product. The top of the dropper has almost an ombre purple & gold effect, gorgeous! And the actual foundation comes in a matte glass like bottle with the Tarte logo in gold of course. I got color matched to this foundation at Sephora and the girl who attended me did an excellent job picking out a shade – which was “Light Medium Honey”. It goes perfect with my skin tone, I was so happy I didn’t have to exchange it. The formula as the name suggests is very watery and light weight, it feels like you have nothing on! It has excellent medium to full coverage and is easy to build up to even out my skin tone. I only had to touch up my nose (oily t-zone) once throughout the day which is a miracle within itself lol. On my skin it was a little more matte than dewy, which I prefer anyway. I also like the fact that it has SPF 15 included to protect your skin from sun damage & signs of aging especially in the up and coming summer months! I have not put this foundation down since I got it and I own many foundations so that speaks volumes! Out of the two items, if you can only purchase one thing – get this foundation into your collection PRONTO!
